Hello! My name is Yadel (Jah-DELL) Torres. I am a creative designer and UCF AlumKnight with a passion for culture, history, and the LGBTQ+ community.
My origins are in a small but colorful island called Puerto Rico. At the age of 5, I moved to Central Florida and have lived here ever since. Design has always been something that I naturally leaned towards. As a child I was always drawing my favorite video game characters and making posters for my family to hang around the house (tbh, I forced them). It's something that has always been natural for me.
I believe that design can deliver a strong purpose, especially for people like me who associate with multiple minority groups here in the states. Creating visuals that can communicate similar experiences and/or beliefs from different groups is something that I think we can all share and appreciate.
My experiences include volunteering in building a fashion magazine at my alma mater, working part time at my university creating social graphics for their social accounts, and interning at a couple of marketing, to eventually accepting a full time offer at Sid lee. I am also proud to say that after a long and rigorous application process and internship, I became a (Multicultural Advertising Internship Program) MAIP 2021 Fellow!
